Best samosas in Scarborough at the best prices. Worth the always present line up. Parking available.
Finally got some samosas as I had a really bad craving for them. I remember the days when I was still in high school, there would sometimes be students selling samosas to raise money for the school dance or prom. I practically begged mr. Tran to get some, and he finally agreed to take me to samosa king to get some. There was a long line walking in, and there were lots of specialty sweets in the window display. Although the queue was long, everyone came for one thing - samosas. The workers behind the hot food counter were fast and efficient, making sure your orders were correct. Since so many people would buy dozens at a time, the back kitchen were pumping out fresh batches every 20 minutes or so. By the time it was my turn to order, I got $4 worth of samosa (3 samosas/$1) and $2 worth of deep fried spring rolls (3 rolls/$1) and one large container of tamarind sweet sauce for $1. Such an amazing deal! Got too excited and ate a spring roll, still hot and crispy, it was vegetarian, but seasoning a tad bit bland, but you can taste the black pepper. Tried the samosa next, and yes, this was it. This is what I had been craving for. With the sweet tamarind sauce. Stuffed with potato and peas with spices that elevate your senses. Samosa do look a little smaller than before, and I feel like they can put a little more potato stuffing inside, but 3/$1 is still such a good deal, can't really complain.
The most delicious and affordable samosas in the GTA! I usually get a large box to share with people and freeze some as well.
Samosa King has been a popular Scarborough fixture for many years, and for good reason. They offer a wide variety of South Asian dishes, pastries, and desserts, but they're most well-known for their tasty and cheap samosas (used to be 5/$1 pre-pandemic, currently 3/$1). Their samosas are on the smaller side, but are crispy, tasty, with a decent amount of filling on the inside, especially at this low price point. It's honestly the perfect quick snack on the go. Highly recommend checking them out, great spot to buy a box of them instead of Timbits to spice up your next gathering!
It's our go-to spot for cheap samosas. I come here whenever I have potlucks for work or big family BBQs.
Cheap eats that satisfy your cravings. Was in the area and had a craving for some veggie samosa. I immediately thought about this gem of a place. On arrival, it was quite busy with a long lineup for their delicious food. The line moved slowly but was so well worth the wait for the deliciousness that was to follow. Their veggie samosas are 3 for $1 - what a steal! I got myself 12 samosas and had to get their sweet sauce when paying at the cash. It's my favourite part. Please note that they only take cash or debit at this location and only take debit for purchases $5 or more. The samosas are big and stuffed with potatoes and veg. Dipped into the sauce you get a combination pairing of something sweet and crunchy to begin with, followed by the spices (not too spicy). After finishing off my samosas, I can't help but to want more. I've been thinking about these samosas for a week now and will be going back soon! YUM!
Dropped in today for a goat meat taali, a large portion of chicken tikka masala, samosas (4 for $4), and a large green chutney. $6.99 included: brown rice, veg1 (spinach/bhaji) and curried goat meat, with separately packaged, a second veg2 side (I chose curried mixed veg) +incl. 1 beautifully charred naan. Must highly recommend the spinach, somehow it has a deeply enjoyable smokiness. I also picked up (also at the hot food counter) a large (single/à la carte) order of Chicken Tikka Masala. This was so delicious, so herby, spicy and moist (admittedly a lil on the oily side, tho) The goat produces another rich stew with tasty and tender protein at its centre. I also left with the requisite pack of samosas, along with a 'requisite' large green chutney (utilize some for the samosas, but reserve the greater portion as seasoning sauce for seasoning every.time.
Samosa King is my go to restaurant for samosas and curry! The samosas are super cheap, but also very fresh and flavourful! The curry is also well spiced and comes out hot! The staff are polite and very quick and efficient. Despite there normally being a line up, especially for the samosa side, the line goes by pretty quickly. The restaurant, itself is kind of small, and there is no indoor dining. You have to spend over $10 in order to pay by card as well. They only accept cash and debit. The parking lot is a bit annoying since it's cramped, however if you park further back, there are usually enough spots there. It's also accessible by TTC and only a very short walk from the closest TTC stop.
